Valentine's Day

This year's Valentine's Day was low key, just how I like them. Christian and I are not big on spending money on frilly gifts and jewelry. What he got me was a super cute gift. I have a love of pajamas, especially comfortable ones. In the morning, he surprised me with a PajamaGram. It was very nice and soft and came with slippers. Unfortunately, Christian got me the gift in a large, which was waaaaay too big. He said he figured the bigger the better, so I could be comfy. We'll have to exchange it for a small. :)

The day progressed uneventfully. My present to him was to go catch a showing of 'Coraline'. It was really awesome. The cinematography was amazing. I loved the creepy dark animation. The movie had many witty parts that kept me laughing, and I thought the storyline was unique. I loved the characters, especially the kitty and Mr. B. It's definitely going to be a movie I will have to own. Apparently, this movie was created after the book. I did not know this story started as a book, so I'm going to have to add it to my reading list.

We topped the night off by going to one of our favorite restaurants, Thai Spice. We had some Sing-has, some fried rice, and pad thai. It was yummy!

The Job Search

Well, I'm at that point in my life where I have to transition myself into the "real world" and find a job in this ailing economy. I'm very excited to report that I have had two job interviews with corporate dental offices in Indianapolis. I met with Heartland Dental Care on Thursday and Aspen Dental yesterday. Both interviews went well, especially the Aspen interview. The Aspen dude really liked me and said he wants to get something down on paper for me to review! :) I have an interview with Kool Smiles on 2/25. I'm not too excited about it because I can't see myself working with kids 24/7. I'm going to give this interview a chance, even if it is for my amusement.

At this point I'm willing to go with the company that can hire me in the location closest to Indy and offer me the most money. It's been weird for me, this whole interview process. I have not been nervous at all, and I don't know why... I guess it's because I have grown as a person and I'm more confident about my ability to interact with others. Maybe it's because I'm becoming a real adult (scary).

School is going well. I'm scheduled to graduate on time if all my patients come through for me and follow through with their treatment plans. I have my written boards March 6-7 and I take the Western Board April 23-26. I'm very nervous about both, but I know I can pass if I prepare myself well. It will be sad and exciting to finish up dental school. I will miss my close friends, my classmates, and some of the faculty. It is going to be weird not having someone looking over my shoulder or someone I can turn to when I am nervous about a procedure. On the other hand, it will be awesome to not have to study and take boring tests. Don't get me wrong, I still want to further my knowledge through CE courses and journal articles, but it will be sweet not to have to take standardized tests!
